Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SEFA, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the application. These terms apply to all users of the SEFA mobile app and this marketing website.

2. About SEFA

SEFA (Smart Expense and Finance Assistant) is a personal finance budgeting application developed as a final-year academic project at Bowen University. It is not a bank, financial institution, payment platform, or regulated financial service provider.

3. Not a Banking Service

SEFA does not hold, transfer, lend, or manage money. Any bank account connections made through SEFA are strictly read-only. SEFA has no ability to initiate, authorise, or modify any financial transaction. You must continue to manage your actual finances through your bank.

4. Not Financial Advice

Nothing within SEFA — including AI-generated insights, budget recommendations, spending summaries, or assistant responses — constitutes professional financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. All outputs are for budgeting awareness and educational purposes only. Always consult a qualified financial professional for significant financial decisions.

5. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter into SEFA. You are responsible for reviewing all statement import rows before approving them. You must keep your account credentials and PIN/biometric access secure. You agree not to use SEFA for any unlawful purpose.

6. Data & Privacy

Your use of SEFA is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using SEFA, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and materials within the SEFA application and this website are the intellectual property of the developer, Owoade Habeeb Temitope, and Bowen University. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

SEFA is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis for academic purposes. The developer makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of SEFA for any particular purpose. The developer shall not be liable for any financial loss, data loss, or damages arising from use of the application.

9. Modifications

These Terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of SEFA after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The 'last updated' date at the top of this page indicates when the terms were last revised.

10. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be directed to the developer at owoadehabeeb04@gmail.com.
